Mannequins
I bought this dress form for my 13 year old daughter – she loves it. It is priced well for the value as compared to other forms. Haven’t run into any of the complaints I’ve read about yet.
Do dress mannequins come in different sizes?
I’m planning on putting a Mannequin Dresses dress together soon. If I buy a mannequin to put the dress on, could I buy a specific size mannequin? (petite, plus-size, etc.) Does anyone know?

I like my Singer DF150 Adjustable Dress Form. The felt cover will be great for draping, since fabrics really cling to it and I am very impressed with the hem guide. It is somewhat difficult to adjust the height, but not impossible, and much easier if you take the body off the stand first. I bought this small dressform based on my three primary measurements (33-25-38), but I was disappointed to discover that her underbust at smallest is 28 1/2 inches, about 1 1/2 inches larger than mine, so dresses I’ve made to fit me will not zip up on her. Also, her shoulders are 15″ wide, and neck 13 1/2″ around, at the least. So much for using this form for fitting my truly small upper body. At least I can use her for hems, when I make dresses for some of my friends, and I can even adjust her to her larger settings to fit my fiancé’s measurements (He wears a 40R jacket).
I purchased this for a Christmas present for my mother. She hasn’t used it yet, but it did arrive in tact and (from what I can see) defect free. She’s been wanting one of these for years, and Amazon allowed me to get it for her fast. I think she is going to enjoy using it. I do wish there was one of these that had more of a size range so that it would allow for sewing for all sizes. There are some members of my family for which my mother sometimes sews for and for which this small form will not be useful. However, I still think it is something she will find useful from time-to-time.
I wish I could give this form 0 stars. It’s just plain junk. It wobbles, you can barely get a pin through it and it gaps when you turn the dials to make it larger. It also falls down at times. I’ve had my form for a while now and the only reason I haven’t thrown it out is because it holds my jacket and scarf and looks cute from the window. BUT, if you want something you can really use for other than window dressing, I’d say pass this form by. And for over $100 are you kidding me? That’s just plain silly. From the looks and feel of this thing, I’d say it cost a 10th of that to make it.
I have longed for a dress form for years but found them too expensive. I purchased this one because it was so reasonably priced and because I had a formal gown to make for a big event. Everything was/worked as advertised. I could easily pin to it and adjust it. However, this was a form fitting gown (and I am losing weight) so I bought the small, adjusted it out as far as I could and then put a slip type “Flexee” that was my current size over it and stuffed the Flexee with polyester stuffing to my exact measurements. This smoothed out the gaps created when you adjust it and I can still use it when I get down to my goal weight. You could use a leotard as well I would think. Anyway, I love it, it came on time, easy to put together and made the whole process of putting a difficult dress together so much easier and it fit like a custom made dress should once it was done.
I am quite happy with this form. Some complain it is lightweight. For the price I am not sure what they expected. These are $200 in stores. I had a similar one before and it is great to adjust patterns for sewing. With this I can make items that fit perfectly. I have no issues with them falling over. For the home sewer I think these are great.
Flimsy stand. Rickety construction throughout!! Would it have killed them to add a pin cushion? Will not buy Singer again!
I bought this form to help in making my wedding dress. The form it’s self is great. The fabric covering the form really helps make the fabric your using cling. Which is helpful in pinning. I have been having a little bit of a hard time keeping her up at my height. But I fixed that by drilling a hole in the base and putting a cotter pin in. (if your a handy person doing this will help keep her up. I also have used her to put my costume dresses (for Halloween) on to clean them. She seemed to hold up to that. My only real complaint is I would have loved for her to rotate all the way around, or be on wheels.
I helped my daughter buy this as it was for her. So far she loves it.
this is the best dress form you can find for the price! it was exactly what I expected and it even comes with an extra white jersey covering. perfect!
i got this dress form a while ago and i like it but the cover gets dirty easily and if you put pressure on the bodice too much the screw will loosen causing the base to tilt and it wont stand up straight.
Plus it really sucks after i paid $50 shipping just to get it to Hawaii!
I just received my mannequin and so far I really like it. It has a hallow kind of base on the inside and the outside is a piece of cotton material. I’m guessing I can place the pins through the cotton material. Great product.
The dress form arrives today and it is a dress form with a black jersey covering. Well, I was actually expecting a white one and too bad, it dint come with any extra white or black jersey covering. The quality of the dress form is good for the price of it but I guess I should have stated to want a WHITE one when I ordered. It is just too much hassle to return the black dress form I have now to get a white one.
I purchased this for my 13 year old niece. She is into making costumes and it is perfect for her. The small is still a little big for her because she is tiny. It arrived very quickly and overall I was very pleased.
I’m a complete and total novice to sewing so didn’t want to spend much money but at the same time, really wanted something to help me beter visualize the patterns and create items that fit. At least for me, this dress form fits almost perfectly – literally every measurement is “spot on”…makes this very easy to use. Perhaps is not the most sturdy unit but being new, I have little to compare it with – dials are simple to use, settings all adjust easily. Very affordable, entry level dress form – great starter unit for beginners such as myself.
I was a little skeptical when I bought the form. I thought it may be too small. Upon opening the package I realized it was perfect. The adjustable knobs work well. This is perfect for creating any piece of clothing to someone’s specific dimensions. The weight of the dummy on the platform arm does cause a little slippage but there is nothing really to worry about.
I was pleasantly surprised by how easily this adjusted to my exact size. The cloth covering is easy to pin. It was easy to set up. It is rather flimsy. But given the price, this was no surprise. The whole piece is somewhat awkward to move since there are no casters or wheels on the stand. But overall, I am pleased. So far, it has enabled me to easily alter several ill-fitting dresses and skirts.
The product is very attractive and easy to assemble. However, customers using the mannequin for clothing display or actual dress making should be aware that the distressed finish is very rough and can snag delicate fabric! All said.. I love the French country charm that this piece adds to the room. Another plus is that it could be easily spray painted to match any decor when you redecorate.
We are very pleased with this fashion design mannequin! It is perfect for our daughters new bedroom decor, which is a ‘vintage glam’ type of theme. The price was also great! JC Penneys has a similar Molly Mannequin, but it was nearly 3 times the price that we paid for this one through Amazon. This item looks EXACTLY like it does in the picture! Just perfect!
This had to be the most perfect Christmas gift for my grandaughter. One that she will enjoy all year. She has had so much fun putting clothes on her. Everything I expected. Thank You
I bought this for my mom for her birthday as she sews clothing. It is so awesome. It’s a beautiful dress form and durable and just as the pictures depict and the description shows. A+.
